Residential Support Worker – SEN Residential School/Children's Home in Lymington. Full-time - Temp to perm contract.

Academics are recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ residential SEN school in between Lymington and Brockenhurst in the New Forest. All young people have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) with their primary special need being Autism. They require support to access education, may have difficulty initiating or limited social interactions, and need help with organisation and problem solving to support independence. They may typically be working at or above age-related expectations or have moderate learning difficulties.

Responsibilities

They are looking to appoint a number of experienced Residential Support Workers to join them on a temp to perm contract. You will be required to help develop independence skills, pursue hobbies and introduce new hobbies or any activities the young person would like to try, understand the wider community and help build relationships and make friends.

As a Residential Support Worker you must be able to drive as there are no public transport links directly to the residential school and you should be able to drive a standard mini bus as part of the role, or be willing to.

Shifts include working weekends and bank holidays. The hours are preferably full-time – 40 hours a week although part-time options are available at 32 or 24 hours a week.

Shift types: Early: 07.15 – 15.30; Late: 15.00 – 22.30; Long day: 07.15 - 22.15.

Terms and Compensation

Whilst on contract with Academics, the hourly rate is £13.68 per hour. Once on a permanent contract, hourly rates range from £13.12 per hour up to £14.88, dependent on experience.

Once the role becomes permanent, you are required to complete a Level 3 RQF within two years of starting the role. This is supported by the school.

Qualifications and Experience

Although experience working in a care, residential or educational setting is preferable, they are open to candidates new to the sector who have an empathetic and driven nature with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
