Job summary

Lockhart Recruitment is recruiting a Residential Support Worker in Exeter to help young people aged 9-25 develop independence, confidence and life skills in a residential setting. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide daily living support, safeguarding and a nurturing environment.

The role offers full training and funded qualifications, including Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, with shift patterns including evenings and weekends and up to 13 weeks holiday.

The Residential Support Worker Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will support young people within a residential setting, helping them develop essential independent living skills while providing a safe, nurturing and positive environment.

You’ll work closely with a wider multidisciplinary team to support each individual's personal development and well-being outside of their educational day.

  • Supporting young people with daily living and independence skills
  • Providing emotional, social and practical support
  • Supporting personal care needs while maintaining dignity and respect
  • Planning and organising social activities and community outings
  • Accompanying young people on trips and recreational activities
  • Building positive and professional relationships with young people, families and external professionals
  • Promoting safeguarding and well-being at all times
  • Contributing to care planning and record keeping

No two days are the same. One day might involve supporting evening routines and independent living skills, while the next could include trips to the cinema, bowling, local attractions or other community-based activities.

Training & Development

Residential Support Worker Shift Patterns

There are a number of rota options available, including:

  • A two-week rolling rota including evenings, sleep-ins and alternate weekends
  • Monday to Friday shifts across morning and afternoon/evening hours
