Job summary

Portman Recruitment is seeking a compassionate Residential Support Worker to join a children’s home. You will help provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment, ensuring the physical, emotional and social needs of children are met.

You will build positive relationships, promote resilience and support each young person’s individual development while working on a residential rota including sleep-ins and collaborating with families and professionals.

  • Full UK Driving licence.

  • Deliver individual key-work sessions and targeted interventions.
  • Support care and placement plans.
  • Encourage participation in education, leisure and community activities.
  • Support young people through challenging situations with a calm, child-centred approach.
  • Work with families, social workers and other professionals.
  • Complete daily records, reports and statutory documentation.
  • Attend supervision, team meetings and relevant training.
  • Undertake sleep-in duties as part of rota.
  • Lead shifts or deputise for senior colleagues when required.

Residential Support Worker – Children's Home

Salary:£26,800 starting salary
Hours: Full-time, working on a residential rota including sleep-ins
Reports to: Senior Support Worker, Deputy Manager and Registered Manager

About the Role

We are recruiting a compassionate and committed Residential Support Worker to join a children's residential care team.

You will help provide a safe, nurturing and structured home environment, ensuring the physical, emotional and social needs of children and young people are met. The role will involve building positive relationships, promoting resilience and supporting each young person's individual development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing and consistent home environment.
  • Promote positive routines, boundaries and structure.
  • Build trusting and professional relationships with young people.
  • Act as a positive role model and promote pro-social behaviour.
  • Deliver individual key-work sessions and targeted interventions.
  • Support young people with their care and placement plans.
  • Encourage participation in education, leisure and community activities.
  • Support young people through challenging situations using a calm and child-centred approach.
  • Work closely with families, social workers and other professionals.
  • Complete accurate daily records, reports and statutory documentation.
  • Participate in reviews and professional meetings concerning young people.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, fire-safety and organisational procedures.
  • Work in accordance with the Children's Homes Regulations and relevant statutory guidance.
  • Support colleagues and contribute positively to the staff team.
  • Attend supervision, team meetings and relevant training.
  • Undertake sleep-in duties as part of the rota.
  • Lead shifts or deputise for senior colleagues when required.
