Join Our Team as a Service Manager - Residential
Location: Coventry
Role: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Hawkesbury Lodge represents an important investment in supporting people across Coventry and Warwickshire on their recovery journey. Developed in partnership with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, the service combines a 14-bed residential rehabilitation service with an integrated Care Hub, providing a welcoming and recovery-focused environment. Together, these services offer personalised support to people living with severe and enduring mental illness, helping them build confidence, develop greater independence, enhance their wellbeing, and take positive steps towards living successfully within their local communities.

How you will make a difference as a Residential Service Manager

As a Residential Service Manager I empower people affected by mental illness to rebuild confidence, strengthen independence, and reconnect with their communities. Through focused, recovery‑based support, I help individuals set meaningful goals, overcome barriers, and access the resources they need to move forward and create lasting positive change. I work under the leadership of the Head of Service (Registered Manager) and have delegated responsibility for the residential element of the service.

I ensure the service operates in line with CQC standards, contractual requirements and Rethink Mental Illness quality frameworks, delivering a recovery-focused, person-centred model that promotes independence and progression. I work alongside the Care Hub Service Manager and collaboratively with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) teams, including Enablement colleagues, to support integrated care pathways, effective risk management and coordinated MDT working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high-quality, person-centered and recovery-focused care planning, working collaboratively with service users, carers and professionals.
  • Oversee assessment, admission and review processes, ensuring timely access to the service and effective progression planning.
  • Support the delivery of rehabilitation outcomes, enabling individuals to develop independence and move on to community-based living.
  • Take a lead role in managing risk within the service, ensuring robust risk assessment and management processes aligned to organisational and CWPT Enablement Team protocols.
  • Ensure staff respond appropriately to changes in risk, including escalation to senior management and clinical partners in line with agreed pathways.
  • Support the implementation of jointly agreed clinical escalation pathways and ensure staff are confident in their application.
  • Work in partnership with CWPT and Enablement Teams to support MDT working, information sharing and coordinated care delivery.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between residential and Care Hub teams to deliver an integrated service model.

  • Oversee recruitment, induction and ongoing training of staff, ensuring compliance with mandatory and service-specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding, incident reporting, complaints and quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor service performance and contribute to reporting requirements, ensuring outcomes and KPIs are achieved.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Health and Social Care (essential); Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or working towards).
  • Significant experience in a supervisory or management role within mental health or social care services.
  • Experience of working residential mental health, rehabilitation or recovery-focused services supporting adults with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs.
