Job summary

Red Snapper Recruitment Group seeks a Residential Intervention Worker in Poole to support individuals with complex needs toward independence and reintegration. You will work with probation teams, police and providers to deliver structured interventions and manage risk.

The role involves a 12-month fixed-term contract, weekend shifts, and safeguarding responsibilities. QCF Level 3 in Community Justice or equivalent is preferred, with strong communication and record-keeping essential.

Qualifications

  • QCF Level 3 in Community Justice or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating activities in criminal justice settings.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour and therapeutic/enabling environments.
  • Strong communication, listening and relationship-building skills.
  • Maintain clear and accurate electronic records.
  • Ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and encourage positive change.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
  • Empathy, tact and discretion in sensitive situations.
  • Willingness to act as Emergency First Aid Responder.
  • Willingness to support the organisation's Christian ethos.

Responsibilities

  • Complete client inductions and pre-placement meetings; attend prison or other locations as needed.
  • Act as a keyworker and deliver or co-lead one-to-one interventions, groups and activities.
  • Support clients to develop independence and reintegrate into the community.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and risk management plans; monitor changes in risk.
  • Share information through agreed procedures and contribute to MAPPA meetings.
  • Maintain electronic records, case notes and risk documentation.
  • Liaise with probation, police, and other agencies.
  • Promote service rules and licence conditions; uphold behaviour standards.
  • Use positive role modelling to encourage behaviour change.
  • Support physical and mental wellbeing and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Undertake alcohol/drug testing and Naloxone procedures.
  • Carry out room searches and support self-harm monitoring as required.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.

Location: Poole
Salary: £34,995 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 3 x 12.5-hour shifts, including weekends

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Residential Intervention Worker to join a dedicated team in Poole, supporting individuals with complex needs as they work towards greater independence and successful reintegration into the community.
This is a rewarding role where you will help manage risk, support behaviour change, promote positive choices and contribute to safer communities.
You will work closely with clients, probation teams, police, service providers and other agencies to provide structured support and interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete client inductions, pre-placement meetings and prison or alternative-location visits.
  • Act as a keyworker and deliver or co-lead one-to-one interventions, groups and meaningful activities.
  • Support clients to develop independence, manage their behaviour and successfully reintegrate into the community.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and risk management plans, monitoring changes in risk and compliance.
  • Share relevant information through agreed procedures and contribute to MAPPA meetings.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records, case notes and risk management documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with probation, police, community services and other agencies.
  • Promote and enforce service rules, licence conditions and appropriate standards of behaviour.
  • Use positive role modelling and constructive challenge to encourage behaviour change.
  • Support clients with physical and mental wellbeing, including safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Undertake mandatory alcohol and drug testing and prescribed medication procedures, including Naloxone.
  • Carry out room searches and support self-harm/suicide monitoring where required.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
About You

We are looking for someone who is resilient, compassionate and confident working with people who may have complex needs and challenging behaviours.
You will ideally have:

  • QCF Level 3 in Community Justice or an equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards this.
  • Experience of planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating activities or programmes, including meaningful activities within a criminal justice setting.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour and an understanding of therapeutic or enabling environments, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
  • Strong communication, listening and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to maintain clear and accurate electronic records.
  • Confidence setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • The ability to motivate individuals and encourage positive behaviour change.
  • The ability to work independently, manage deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • The ability to deal with sensitive situations with empathy, tact and discretion.
  • Willingness to act as a Emergency First Aid Responder.
  • A willingness to support the organisation's Christian ethos.
Additional Requirements
  • satisfactory Enhanced DBS with Adult Barred List check is required.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
  • The role involves working a shift pattern including weekends, so flexibility is essential.
