Job summary

Peterborough City Council is seeking a knowledgeable Housing Compliance Officer to join the Housing Standards team in Peterborough. You will investigate complaints, carry out property inspections, assess housing conditions, and ensure compliance with housing legislation.

The role involves issuing notices and working with landlords to drive improvements while collaborating with Environmental Health, Planning and Community Safety teams.

Qualifications

• Experience working within housing regulation, environmental health, compliance or enforcement.
• Knowledge of housing legislation including relevant acts and regulations.
• Experience inspecting properties and identifying hazards or compliance issues.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out inspections of residential properties.
• Investigating housing-related complaints and service requests.
• Assessing properties using housing legislation and guidance.
• Preparing schedules of work, notices and enforcement documentation.
• Working with landlords and agents to achieve compliance and improve standards.
• Supporting licensing, enforcement and housing improvement initiatives.
• Maintaining accurate records and case management systems.
• Representing the Council professionally when dealing with residents, businesses and partner agencies.
