Job summary

South West Council is seeking an experienced housing professional to join the Environmental Health team as Interim Private Sector Housing Officer, delivering frontline housing services to residents and improving standards across the community.

You will investigate complaints, carry out HHSRS inspections, enforce Housing Act 2004, advise tenants and landlords, and support licensing and regulatory compliance with partners to protect residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health within Local Government.
• Solid knowledge of housing legislation and the HHSRS.
• Practical experience in carrying out inspections for disrepair and property licensing.
• Experience in report writing and enforcement under Housing Act 2004.
• Ability to build effective relationships with tenants, landlords and partners.
• Well-organised with the ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.

I am working with a council in the South West that are looking for an experienced housing professional to join their Environmental Health team and help deliver a vital frontline service, supporting residents and improving housing standards across the community.

As the Interim Private Sector Housing Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring residents have access to safe, healthy and well-managed homes. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll help deliver a responsive housing service at a busy time following the introduction of the Renters' Rights Act.
