Job summary

Shanly Homes is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Manager to join our Technical team, covering land acquisition through to construction and completion. You will assess new land opportunities, manage risks, influence design solutions and ensure practical, cost-effective engineering in our developments.

Ideal candidates will have residential civil engineering expertise, with broad experience across drainage, highways, utilities, levels, earthworks and ground conditions, plus a commercially

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in residential housebuilding or development projects.
• Strong understanding of highways, drainage, utilities and earthworks.
• Experience managing external design teams and consultants.
• Analytical, proactive and well-organised with stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide civil engineering input across land acquisition, planning and delivery.
• Lead technical risk assessments and budgeting for bids.
• Influence site layouts, drainage capacity and infrastructure negotiations.
• Oversee highway designs, drainage strategies, levels and earthworks.
• Manage consultants, set scopes, fees and timelines.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost reduction.
• Drive design information for Sectional Agreements and adoption.
• Support construction teams and review changes; sign off civil works.
• Conduct regular site inspections; produce verification reports.
• Share best practices to strengthen in-house civil engineering capability.
