Job summary

Strata Construction Consulting UK Ltd in the City of London is seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer to lead and shape a growing civil engineering team on UK projects across residential, commercial, education, and public sector developments.

You will manage feasibility through to completion, mentor junior engineers, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to business growth while maintaining high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng/MICE) or equivalent.
• Strong UK consultancy experience delivering civil projects.
• Proficiency in highways, drainage, flood risk, SuDS, external works and infrastructure design.
• Experience producing/planning submissions and obtaining approvals.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams with client exposure.
• Commercial awareness: budgets, programmes and client expectations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering projects from feasibility through to detailed design and delivery.
• Deliver innovative infrastructure design solutions across highways, drainage and flood risk.
• Identify risks and opportunities to deliver practical, commercially viable solutions.
• Manage programmes, resources, budgets and quality to ensure successful delivery.
• Review designs, calculations and drawings to maintain high engineering standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and contractors throughout delivery.
• Build strong relationships with clients, authorities and stakeholders.
• Contribute to bids and business development; mentor engineers and technicians.
• Drive continuous improvement and promote best practice.

The role

• Leading civil engineering projects from feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction support and completion.
• Delivering innovative highways, drainage, SuDS, flood risk and infrastructure design solutions.
• Identifying technical risks and opportunities to deliver practical, commercially viable engineering solutions.
• Managing project programmes, resources, budgets and quality to ensure successful delivery.
• Reviewing technical designs, calculations, reports and drawings to maintain the highest engineering standards.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, consultants and contractors throughout project delivery.
• Building strong relationships with clients, local authorities and statutory bodies including Highway Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Water Companies and the Environment Agency.
• Supporting business development by preparing fee proposals, contributing to bids and strengthening client relationships.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers and technicians, helping to build capability across the wider team.
• Driving continuous improvement by promoting best practice, innovation and efficient project delivery.

What you need to succeed

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or equivalent).

• Excellent technical expertise in highways, drainage, flood risk, SuDS, external works and infrastructure design.
• Experience producing and reviewing planning and technical approval submissions.
