Job summary

Acorn Training Ltd in Exeter seeks an experienced trainer/assessor to deliver high-quality teaching, coaching and assessment for Level 4 and 5 Residential Childcare apprenticeships. You will manage a caseload, develop training plans with employers, and ensure timely achievement of apprenticeship standards.

Role requires safeguarding knowledge, regulatory compliance, and the ability to organise inductions, learning strategies, and regular progress reviews with employers and learners.

Qualifications

• Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential).
• Level 3 CAVA or equivalent (essential).
• Level 3 AET or equivalent (essential).
• GCSE English and Maths (A*-C) or equivalent (essential).
• Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
• IQA level 4 (desirable).
• CET level 4 (desirable).
• IOSH Health & Safety at Work (desirable).
• First Aid at Work (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of apprentices and employers with high-quality training, coaching, and assessment.
• Plan training to cover knowledge, skills, and English/maths development.
• Develop individual training plans with employers to prepare for final assessment.
• Organise induction programmes clarifying roles and responsibilities of employers.
• Create and implement training strategies and resources to progress learners.
• Ensure training meets AO standards and quality assurance requirements.
• Plan and track off-the-job training within each learner's plan.
• Support learners' English, maths and digital skills development.
• Provide pastoral support and promote safeguarding and equality.
• Schedule regular reviews with learners and employers to set targets.
• Offer information, advice and guidance and promote wellbeing resources.
• Set objectives and deadlines, monitor outcomes and progress.
• Carry out health and safety risk assessments where needed.
• Maintain electronic diary of sessions and visits; ensure lone working policy compliance.
• Keep accurate records in electronic systems for learners and employers.
