Job summary

Acorn Training Ltd is seeking a driven assessor/trainer to manage a caseload of apprentices and learners in a hybrid work setting. You will train, coach, and assess to meet apprenticeship standards while coordinating with employers and safeguarding requirements.

You will plan inductions, create tailored learning plans, monitor progress and ensure timely end-point assessment preparation. A Level 5 specialism, CAVA/AET and English/Maths at GCSE level are essential, with driving licence and safety

Qualifications

• Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential)
• Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent. (essential)
• Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent. (essential)
• GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths. (essential)
• Full, clean driving licence and access to vehicle for travel. (essential)
• Level 4 IQA qualification.. (desirable)
• Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) or equivalent (desirable)
• IOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification. (desirable)
• First Aid at Work qualification. (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners, providing high-quality training, coaching, mentoring and assessment to achieve their apprenticeship standard or qualifications.
• Assess learners starting points and plan training considering knowledge, skills, behaviours, English and maths.
• Develop training plans with employers to prepare learners for final assessment.
• Provide induction programmes and clarify roles and responsibilities in the training relationship.
• Develop and implement effective training strategies and materials to support learner progress.
• Ensure off-the-job training is planned, tracked and monitored as part of individual training plans.
• Support learners' English, maths and digital skills development.
• Provide safeguarding, wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Prevent guidance to learners.
• Organise assessment opportunities and regular review meetings with learners and employers.
• Give information and guidance to learners and employers about their programmes and wellbeing services.
• Set clear objectives and deadlines, monitor outcomes and progress.
• Carry out employer health and safety risk assessments when needed.
• Maintain an electronic diary of sessions and visits to learners in workplaces.
• Keep accurate records for all apprentices and employers in electronic systems.
