Job Description:

Job Title: Team Leader – Residential Children’s Home

Location: Warrington

Hours: Full-time

Reports to: Registered Manager

About Us:

At Helpful Investments, we are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, neglect, or adversity. Our homes are places of healing, growth, and positive change.

We believe in building trusting relationships, offering stability, and ensuring every child feels seen, heard, and valued. If you're someone who truly wants to make a difference, we want to hear from you.

Role Overview:

As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Registered Manager to lead and motivate a team of Residential Support Workers. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of care are consistently delivered and that the home operates in line with all relevant legislation and best practice.

You will be a role model, a mentor, and a source of strength for both staff and children. This is not just a job — it’s a commitment to transforming lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to a team of care staff.
  • Foster a positive, child-centred culture where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to thrive.
  • Ensure care plans are followed, reviewed, and adapted to meet the changing needs of each child.
  • Actively participate in placement planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support staff with their development through regular supervisions, training, and mentoring.
  • Lead shifts and manage the day-to-day running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Promote a warm and nurturing environment that values attachment, consistency, and therapeutic care.
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies, including social workers, education providers, and health professionals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
  • A loyal, trustworthy, and resilient individual who leads by example.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting.
  • Supervisory or team leading experience – desirable but not essential if you have strong leadership potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and relevant childcare legislation.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and inclusive working environment where your voice is heard.
  • Opportunities for progression and leadership development.
  • Ongoing training and personal development tailored to your career goals.
  • Access to therapeutic and reflective support.
  • Generous annual leave and other staff benefits.

Make a Difference. Be the Difference.

If you are ready to be a part of something meaningful, to lead with heart and integrity, and to make a real impact in the lives of children — we would love to welcome you to our team.

Apply now and help us invest in children's futures.
