Job summary

The role requires teamwork, adherence to health and safety, and the ability to work weekends and bank holidays, with day hours from 08:00 to 22:00. Training and development are expected, including possible medication administration under supervision.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds in practical or home nursing.
• NVQ Level 2 in Direct Care or commitment to study to achieve the qualification.
• In-service course in Social Care.
• Preliminary course in Social Care.

Responsibilities

• Wash, dress, bathe and feed clients, including those with special needs.
• Talk to and motivate clients; help maintain contact with family and community.
• Assist in creating a supportive, homely atmosphere enabling independence.
• Co-operate with domestic staff to meet clients' personal needs.
• Contribute to establishment records and support plans where appropriate.
• Escort clients outside the establishment to appointments as needed.
• Attend training courses and supervise students/volunteers where required.
• Assist with laundry and care of client items, beds and lockers.
• Care for the dying and support relatives.
• Assist management with administration of medication.
