Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Resident Forklift Engineer (based over 2 sites) to service and repair a broad range of forklift trucks between Wakefield and Thorne, living within a commutable distance of Doncaster/Leeds.

The role involves LOLER inspections, safety checks, and responding to breakdowns across two depots. The ideal candidate has City & Guilds/NVQ, diesel engine expertise, and full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, maintenance and repair on forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Carry out LOLER inspections and safety checks.
• Complete service reports and job sheets.
• Coordinate with parts to source and install correct components.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise customer downtime.

Job description

Job Title: Resident Forklift Engineer (based over 2 sites)

Basic Salary: £37,000 - £43,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours

Overtime: Paid at time + 1/3

Location: You will live in Doncaster / Leeds area

Due to an increasing workload, we are recruiting for a Mobile Forklift Engineer to join a well-established, employee-focused forklift and material handling company.

This is a predominantly site-based role, working between two depots in Wakefield and Thorne.

The ideal candidate will be based within a commutable distance of Doncaster, Leeds, Wakefield, Thorne or the surrounding areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing servicing, maintenance and repair work on a broad range of forklift trucks and material handling equipment
• Identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues
• Carrying out LOLER inspections to ensure all equipment remains fully compliant
• Completing safety checks and pre-delivery inspections
• Responding to breakdowns and conducting reactive maintenance to reduce customer downtime
• Effectively organising and managing your workload and service schedule across both sites
• Accurately filling out service reports and job sheets
• Communicating with parts departments to ensure the correct components are sourced and installed

What you’ll need:

• Experience as a Forklift Engineer / Material Handling Mechanic / Plant Fitter or similar
• Proven experience with diesel engines
• Strong experience with electrics, hydraulics and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload across multiple sites
• A professional, reliable and customer-focused attitude
• Technical qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ) desirable
• Full UK driving licence
• Ideally based within a commutable distance of Doncaster, Leeds, Wakefield, Thorne or surrounding areas

Your Package:

• Basic Salary: £43,000
• OTE: £61,577 (based on 5 hours overtime per week)
• 45-hour working week, Monday to Friday (Flexible start & finish times)
• Overtime paid at 1.3x
