Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is looking for a Resident Forklift Engineer to join a well-established materials handling company in the UK. The role covers servicing, maintenance and repair of forklift trucks, with a focus on reliability and safety, across a busy workload.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues, perform LOLER inspections, carry out pre-delivery checks and respond to breakdowns, with overtime opportunities and a company van provided.

Qualifications

• Experience as a forklift engineer or material handling/mechanical fitter.
• Proven experience with diesel engines and hydraulic/electrical diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Professional, reliable and customer-focused attitude.
• City & Guilds / NVQ qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance and repair on forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Carrying out LOLER inspections to ensure compliance.
• Perform safety checks and pre-delivery inspections.
• Respond to breakdowns and conduct reactive maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Organise and manage workload and service schedule.
• Complete service reports and job sheets.
• Coordinate with parts to source/install correct components.

Job Title: Resident Forklift Engineer

Basic Salary: £38,000-£39,0000 (35hrs per week)

OTE: £54,200-55,700 (based on 1 days overtime a week)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 4 on 4 off (10 hour shift between 6am-6pm)

Due to an increasing workload, we are recruiting for a forklift engineer - you will be working for a well-established, employee-focused forklift and material handling company.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing servicing, maintenance and repair work on a broad range of forklift trucks and material handling equipment
• Identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues
• Carrying out LOLER inspections to ensure all equipment remains fully compliant
• Completing safety checks and pre-delivery inspections
• Responding to breakdowns and conducting reactive maintenance to reduce customer downtime
• Effectively organising and managing your workload and service schedule
• Accurately filling out service reports and job sheets
• Communicating with parts departments to ensure the correct components are sourced and installed

What you'll need:

• Experience as a Forklift engineer / Material handling mechanic / Plant Fitter or similar
• Proven experience of diesel engines
• Strong experience with electrics, hydraulics and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload
• A professional, reliable and customer-focused attitude
• Technical qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ) (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence

Your Package:

• Basic Salary: £38,000-£39,0000 (35hrs per week)
• OTE: £54,200-55,700 (based on 1 days overtime a week)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 4 on 4 off (10 hour shift between 6am-6pm)
