Job summary

BBSRC, part of UK Research and Innovation, seeks a 23-month fixed-term analyst in the Evidence and Evaluation Team in Swindon. The role supports portfolio analysis, parliamentary responses and FOI requests, with hybrid and 0.8 FTE options.

You will apply text mining, network analysis, and data visualisation, using R, Python or SQL, and collaborate with subject matter experts to produce robust evidence for strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong data analysis skills with reproducible methods.
• Working knowledge of R, Python or SQL.
• Aptitude to learn new analytics tools.
• Clear data presentation for diverse audiences.
• Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to responses to Parliamentary questions and FOI requests with robust data.
• Define and analyse research portfolios with experts using text search and clustering.
• Analyse BBSRC grants portfolios using national and international data sources.
• Support analyses of investment and outputs data, ensuring accuracy.
• Monitor data quality and maintain core research classifications.
• Summarise and visualise portfolio data for internal and external stakeholders.
• Promote analytics resources and explore new analyses.
• Build skills in machine learning, text mining and data visualization.
