UKRI - UK Research and Innovation in Swindon invites applications for an analytics role within the Evidence and Evaluation Team. Hybrid working available, fixed-term 23 months, with flexible hours (0.8 FTE minimum). The role develops data-driven insights across BBSRC investments and informs strategic planning.

The successful candidate will use text mining, clustering and network approaches, working with colleagues across UKRI and BBSRC to deliver robust analyses and clear stakeholder reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong data analysis skills with efficient, accurate and reproducible handling, analysis and interpretation of data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python or SQL and willingness to learn new analytics tools.
• Scientific literacy with an interest in biosciences or related subjects.
• Effective communication to present data clearly for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work in a team and establish constructive relationships.
• Genuine interest in the aims and objectives of BBSRC.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to responses for information requests on BBSRC investments, ensuring data underpinning responses is robust and context is provided.
• Define and analyse research portfolios with text searching, clustering and auto-classification approaches.
• Carry out strategic analyses of UKRI-BBSRC grants portfolio using multiple data sources.
• Support corporate analyses on investments and outputs data by institution, region or topic, ensuring datasets are accurate.
• Monitor data quality, arrange amendments, and maintain core classifications.
• Summarise and visualise data related to portfolios for stakeholders.
• Continuously improve knowledge, applying learning to the role including machine learning, text mining and data visualization.
