Job description

The Reporting and Metrics Manager for IT Asset and Lifecycle Management is responsible for designing, delivering, and optimizing reporting frameworks that provide actionable insights across IT Asset Management (ITAM) and IT Lifecycle Management (ITLM). This role ensures accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting to monitor asset performance, lifecycle trends, compliance, technology obsolescence risk and cost optimization. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, this position drives data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement in IT asset utilization and lifecycle processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting and Analytics Development:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide visibility into IT asset inventory, lifecycle stages, utilization, costs, and compliance.

  • Build custom analytics and reporting solutions to track asset health, performance, and lifecycle status across hardware, software, and cloud assets.

  • Ensure consistent reporting formats and standards for both ITAM and ITLM to align with organizational goals.

Metrics and KPIs Implementation:

  • Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for ITAM and ITLM, including metrics like cost efficiency, compliance rates, lifecycle milestones, and asset utilization.

  • Analyze trends in IT asset procurement, maintenance, and decommissioning to identify risks, opportunities, and inefficiencies.

  • Create predictive models to forecast asset needs and inform lifecycle planning strategies.

Lifecycle Management Insights:

  • Monitor and report on IT asset lifecycles, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and end-of-life/disposition.

  • Provide actionable insights to optimize lifecycle planning, ensuring timely refreshes and cost-effective asset decommissioning.

  • Support ITLM strategies by identifying gaps in asset lifecycle processes and recommending improvements.

Data Integrity and Systems Optimization:

  • Oversee data collection, validation, and integrity across ITAM and ITLM systems and tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow Software).

  • Work with IT teams to integrate data from multiple sources and ensure a unified reporting environment.

  • Optimize ITAM/ITLM tools to improve reporting capabilities and automate repetitive reporting tasks.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with IT, procurement, finance, and compliance teams to align reporting objectives with organizational goals.

  • Act as the primary contact for reporting-related inquiries from stakeholders, providing training and support as needed.

  • Partner with Application & Infrastructure Support Managers to review LCM’s forecasts of obsolescence (EOS) and identify, budget, plan, and monitor the remediation of End of Life (EOL) components before those technologies approach their End of Support (EOS) dates.

  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, influencing strategic decision-making.

Compliance and Audit Support:

  • Generate detailed reports for compliance and audit purposes, ensuring accurate documentation of IT assets and lifecycle processes.

  • Mitigate risks related to software licensing, regulatory requirements, and asset decommissioning by providing detailed compliance reporting.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify inefficiencies in ITAM and ITLM reporting processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in IT asset and lifecycle management reporting.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, IT Lifecycle Management, or reporting and analytics roles, with a focus on metrics and data visualization.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) or Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP).

  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Foundation Certification.

  • Data analytics certifications (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in ITAM / ITLM tools (e.g., ServiceNow ITAM, Flexera, Snow Software).

  • Advanced knowledge of reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel).

  • Strong skills in SQL and database management for querying and analysis.

  • Experience with predictive analytics and lifecycle modelling is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Success Metrics:

  • Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of ITAM and ITLM reports.

  • Improvements in asset utilization rates and lifecycle efficiency.

  • Cost savings achieved through reporting-driven insights.

  • Stakeholder satisfaction with reporting tools and insights provided.
