Job summary

BD Group in London/Essex seeks an experienced technical supervisor to manage the legal disrepair process from initial report to invoicing, overseeing trades operatives and specialist subcontractors. You will coordinate with scheduling, perform inspections, and support the SDM with contractor management to ensure exceptional service delivery.

The role involves travel to sites within and around Barking and Dagenham, with office-based duties and hybrid working options.

Qualifications

  • GCSE maths and English (or equivalent) required.
  • Trade qualifications in plumbing, carpentry, electrics or a related repairs sector.
  • Experience in a supervisory role, ideally in responsive repairs/minor works.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, including subcontractors, and to drive service improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with scheduling teams and sub-contractors to ensure accurate job information, timely submissions and invoicing.
  • Carry out pre- and post-inspections to ensure high workmanship standards.
  • Support the Service Delivery Manager with contractor management and process improvements to reduce costs and meet targets.
  • Provide data, MI and reports for quality control and budgeting.
  • Attend meetings with clients, stakeholders and internal teams; act as point of contact for queries and complaints.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced technical supervisor to work in a team with to manage the legal disrepair process from first report through to final invoicing. Conforming to the organisations policies, procedures, regulatory codes, appropriate legislation and key performance indicators. To oversee and monitor the performance of trade specific directly employed operatives and specialist sub-contractors including all applicable HR and H&S matters.

About the Role

You will work collaboratively with other team members to manage the legal disrepairs service from first report through to final invoicing. You will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the performance of trades operatives and specialist sub-contractors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with the works scheduling team and sub-contractors to ensure accuracy of job information, timely report submissions, suitable allocation of work, and invoicing.
  • Carrying out pre and post inspections to ensure a good standard to work.
  • Assisting the Service Delivery Manager (SDM) in managing the contractors to ensure excellent service delivery, continually looking for process improvements to improve efficiency, costs, and meet agreed targets.
  • Supporting the SDM by providing data, reports and MI (e.g. for quality control and budgetary data).
  • Stakeholder and people management: performance monitoring, attend monthly sub-contractor meetings, liaising with internal and external customers such as legal departments, client representatives, local authorities etc.
  • Managing the day-to-day administration of the team.
  • Attending client/stakeholder panels, consultations, and other meetings.
  • Pro-actively engaging with and acting a point of contact for customers, ensuring all queries and complaints are resolved swiftly.
About You:
  • Maths and English Qualification (GCSE grade 9 - 4 /A - C) or equivalent.
  • Trade specific qualification(s) in plumbing, carpentry, electrics, or a repairs sector common trade.
  • Prior experience in a Supervisory role (ideally within a responsive repairs/minor works environment).
  • Analytical skills - an ability to understand data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to a range of stakeholders.
  • Personal resilience: ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Commercial acumen and an appreciation for business cost efficiency.
  • A solutions-based approach, positive 'can do' attitude, and the ability to motivate others.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to use initiative.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Prior management of specialist sub-contractors would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of accuserv system advantageous.
  • The role will involve travel to sites within and around the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham contract, as such a full clean UK driving licence is required.
