Turnitin is seeking a self-driven Software Engineering Manager (UK Remote) to lead multi‑discipline engineering teams across the Integrity portfolio. You’ll partner with Product Managers, Customer Success, and other engineering groups to deliver high‑quality products while remote‑first and prioritizing team wellbeing.

The role emphasizes people leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across time zones, with a focus on craftsmanship, accountability, and delivering impact at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Experience collaborating across time zones and geographies.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills with modern software practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with globally distributed teams.
• Proven project management with prioritization and delivery across initiatives.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience in engineering leadership across multiple teams, including hiring and mentoring.
• Strong track record of coaching and mentoring team members.
• Ability to influence and motivate teams to achieve best performance.
• Hands-on experience with scalable front-end and back-end applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower engineering teams across globally distributed groups.
• Manage and develop individuals within the team; provide coaching and feedback.
• Define, develop, and implement best practices for delivery and architecture.
• Oversee technical roadmaps, milestones, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
• Provide technical leadership in collaboration with the Tech Lead throughout development life-cycle.
• Analyze metrics to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
• Stay current with tools, frameworks, and development methodologies.
• Promote transparency, communication, and stakeholder alignment.
