Job summary

Turnitin is seeking a self-sufficient Software Engineering Manager to lead and maintain products within the Turnitin Integrity portfolio. This leadership role blends technical depth, project management, and people leadership across globally distributed teams.

The ideal candidate will mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and collaborate with product, UX, security, DevOps, and customer success to deliver high-quality software on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience collaborating across time zones and geographies; flexible and adaptable working style.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills with modern software development practices.
• Experience using Javascript frameworks and Java within an AWS serverless environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower globally distributed engineering teams; align with product managers and solution architects.
• Manage individuals; conduct one-on-ones; coach developers and foster psychological safety.
• Define, develop and implement engineering best practices; ensure timely delivery and roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight with the Tech Lead across the lifecycle.
• Analyze metrics to drive continuous improvement and optimize processes.
• Stay current with tools and methodologies; propose innovations to leadership.
• Promote transparency and clear communication with stakeholders across the org.
• Take ownership of software quality and alignment with business needs.
• Collaborate across teams with engineering, product, customer success, and sales.
