Spotify is seeking a Staff Data Engineer for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain to define the long-term data engineering strategy and establish scalable data platforms that power analytics, experimentation, and ML for hundreds of millions of Premium subscribers worldwide.

You will lead architectural decisions, collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics and Platform teams, and mentor senior engineers while shaping the future of Spotify's data ecosystem.

Qualifications

Experience designing and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
Ability to lead architectural decisions and set engineering best practices.
Strong collaboration with product, engineering, data science and analytics teams.

Responsibilities

Define long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain.
Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms for analytics and ML.
Partner with multiple teams to translate business challenges into durable data solutions.
Lead architecture decisions and establish data quality, governance, and observability practices.
Design data models and platform architecture for scalable growth to 1B users.
Mentor engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering.
