Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Staff Data Engineer for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain to shape the long-term data platform strategy and build scalable solutions for analytics, experimentation, and subscriber health across 200M+ Premium users.

You will lead cross-team collaboration, mentor engineers, and drive best practices in data quality, governance, and reliability while balancing performance and cost as we scale toward one billion users.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
• Proficient in distributed data pipelines with Scio, BigQuery, Dataflow, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, governance, and data quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain.
• Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms for analytics, experimentation, ML, and subscriber experiences.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to translate business problems into durable data solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices for data quality, governance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence across multiple squads.
• Design data models and platform architecture to support growth toward one billion users balancing performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Reduce technical debt and improve the developer experience across the broader data ecosystem.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering and knowledge sharing.
