Job summary

Grafana Labs is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Database) for a remote UK-based role. You will design and build the storage layer for a scalable data platform, enabling OLAP/OTLP workloads across clouds.

You’ll own components from ingestion to query execution, while supporting a multi-tenant SaaS model and strong observability. The team operates with autonomy and collaboration, embracing pragmatic decisions and fast iterations.

Qualifications

• Production-grade software experience and ability to ship reliable systems.
• Practical AI experience and applying it to real-world problems.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of database components: ingestion, query planning, distributed execution.
• Build multi-tenant SaaS foundation with isolation, quotas, and audit trails.
• Create APIs for AI agents and internal tools to fetch data quickly.
• Collaborate across product and infra to balance speed and reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards.
• Shape architecture, deployment patterns, and engineering practices.
• Communicate effectively across teams and manage ownership of solutions.
