Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience with Scala and Play Framework.
• Experience building scalable, high‑performance backend services and APIs.
• Solid understanding of functional programming concepts and Scala patterns.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and JSON handling.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and schema design.
• Proven experience writing unit and integration tests with ScalaTest/Specs2.
• Familiarity with build tools (SBT) and dependency management.
• Experience with Git and branching strategies.
• Knowledge of web security best practices and performance considerations.
• Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Scala and Play Framework.
• Implement RESTful endpoints and authentication/authorization flows.
• Write well-structured, idiomatic Scala and use FP patterns.
• Build and maintain automated tests (unit, integration).
• Collaborate with product owners, UX, QA, and engineers in Agile teams.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and pair programming.
• Troubleshoot production issues; contribute to reliability and observability.
• Define CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Produce concise technical documentation and handover notes.
