Job summary

Stealth iT Consulting is seeking a skilled Scala Developer for UK remote work to design and develop scalable, high‑performance applications. You will build backend services, APIs, and undertake tests while collaborating with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment.

You will apply functional programming concepts, work with Play Framework, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and reliable deployments across modern systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience with Scala.
• 2+ years with Play Framework, including controllers, routing, forms, and HTTP filters.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs with JSON validation/serialization (Play JSON, Circe).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL and MongoDB).
• Proven experience writing unit and integration tests (ScalaTest, Specs2, Mockito).
• Familiarity with sbt and dependency management.
• Experience with Git and branching strategies.
• Understanding of HTTP, security best practices, and performance.
• Experience in Agile teams and ceremonies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Scala and Play Framework.
• Implement REST endpoints, manage request/response lifecycle, and handle authentication/authorization flows.
• Write idiomatic Scala and apply functional programming patterns.
• Build and maintain automated tests (unit and integration).
• Collaborate with product owners, UX, QA, and engineers in an Agile environment.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to observability (logging, metrics, alerts).
• Help define CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Produce concise technical documentation and handover notes.
