Stealth iT Consulting is seeking a talented Scala Developer to contribute to scalable, high‑performance backend systems. You will design and implement APIs using Scala and Play Framework, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment.

The role emphasizes clean code, testing, and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, securing endpoints, and performance tuning. You should have 3+ years of experience and be comfortable working remotely within the UK.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Scala experience.
• 2+ years with Play Framework building controllers, routing, HTTP filters.
• Strong functional programming concepts and idiomatic Scala.
• Experience designing REST APIs and JSON validation/serialization.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Proven experience writing unit and integration tests (ScalaTest, Specs2, Mockito).
• Familiarity with sbt and dependency management.
• Git and branching strategies.
• Good understanding of HTTP, web security, and performance considerations.
• Experience in Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Scala and Play Framework.
• Implement RESTful endpoints, manage request/response lifecycle, and handle authentication/authorization flows.
• Write well-structured, idiomatic Scala and use FP patterns where appropriate.
• Build and maintain automated tests (unit, integration).
• Collaborate with product owners, UX, QA, and engineers in Agile environment.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and pair programming.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; contribute to reliability and observability.
• Help define CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Produce concise technical documentation and handover notes.
