Job summary

HITACHI ENERGY UK LIMITED in Birmingham is seeking a Project Management Team Leader to guide a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers to deliver projects on time, within budget and to the required quality.

You will oversee project portfolios, drive standard processes, and lead safety and compliance initiatives while supporting growth and continuous improvement across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
• Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasting and planning activities.
• Strong leadership experience balancing technical expertise with people management.
• Knowledge of recognised PM methodologies such as PMBOK, PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent.
• Experience leading projects of varying size and complexity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Membership of PMI, APM or IET or working towards membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers to meet objectives and foster a high-performance safety-focused culture.
• Oversee a portfolio of projects with governance, reporting, and standardised processes.
• Support budget planning, forecasting, and resource management; monitor financial performance.
• Act as senior escalation point for customers and stakeholders; build strong relationships.
• Champion health, safety and environmental culture; ensure regulatory and policy compliance.
• Support tender reviews, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
