Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK LIMITED is seeking a Lead Project Engineer/Project Manager, Engineering to coordinate the design team and support tendering efforts, ensuring safe, robust designs and documentation. Hybrid role with 2/3 days in the Birmingham office, remote work as applicable.

The role requires 5 years in the electricity supply industry, knowledge of transmission/distribution practices, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5 years electricity supply industry experience.
• Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV).
• Understanding/Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid standards and drawing practices.
• Excellent teamwork, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work to tight time scales and commercial acumen.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the design team across all disciplines.
• Liaise with project management on engineering budgets and provide forecast cost-to-complete estimates.
• Manage the programme and interface with planning engineers for design.
• Provide forecasts for completion and resource planning.
• Approve documentation per contractual requirements.
• Coordinate and chair design reviews and hazard reviews.
• Identify and manage risks across functions; mitigate where needed.
• Support Project Manager in risk assessments and action implementation.
