Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is seeking an experienced Claims Handler - Professional Indemnity to join our in-house team Caytons. You’ll manage a varied caseload across professional indemnity claims within a flexible, remote setup, handling claims from a wide range of professions and applying insurer philosophies.

You’ll work under delegated authority, liaise with clients and internal teams, and drive timely, cost-effective resolutions while maintaining high-quality file notes and MI.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing Professional Indemnity claims (essential).
• Legal background – Law degree, LPC or equivalent is desirable.
• Background as a Claims Handler or Adjuster (TPA or insurer environment preferred).
• Experience working under delegated authority with strong understanding of referral processes.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on high quality file management and documentation.
• Strong organisational, negotiation and decision making skills.
• A proactive, client focused approach with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Managing and progressing claims through to resolution in a timely and cost effective manner
• Reviewing and interpreting policy coverage, applying insurer claims philosophies
• Working within delegated authority and referring matters outside of authority where required
• Applying a fair and consistent approach to indemnity and liability decisions
• Supporting the delivery of SLAs and KPIs across the portfolio
• Maintaining high quality file notes and accurate management information (MI)
• Assisting with bordereaux reporting and general claims administration
• Working closely with the admin team to ensure efficient file progression
