Job summary

An award-winning international law firm is looking for a Technical Claims Handler to join their growing team. You will manage a diverse caseload of professional indemnity claims, guiding insureds and brokers toward appropriate outcomes while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Running a full caseload of professional indemnity claims.
• Maintaining understanding of delegated authority principles and reporting requirements.
• Making strategic decisions in the Insurers’ best interests.
• Investigating and identifying Insureds’ exposure to claims, gathering liability and quantum information.
• Providing guidance and assistance to the Insured in response to complaints and claims, including approving settlement offers.
• Negotiating settlements within the delegated authority.
• Investigating and reporting to Insurers on policy cover and response.
• Managing panel solicitors as agent for Insurers including reporting where claims fall outside the delegated authority.

Job description

Our client, an award-winning international law firm, is looking for a Technical Claims Handler to join their growing team. As a Technical Claims Handler, you will be responsible for a caseload of varied professional indemnity claims, delivering a service that ensure the insured and brokers are advised and guided towards the appropriate outcome.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Running a full caseload of professional indemnity claims
• Maintaining an accurate understanding of the delegated authority principles and reporting requirements on all matters falling outside of the delegated authority
• Making strategic decisions in the Insurers’ best interests
• Investigating and identifying an Insureds exposure to claims, identifying and obtaining information relevant to liability and quantum
• Providing guidance and assistance to the Insured in response to complaints and claims, including approving settlement offers
• Negotiating settlement of claims within the delegated authority
• Investigating and reporting to Insurers on policy cover and response
• Managing panel solicitors as agent for Insurers including reporting where claims fall outside the delegated authority

Due to the nature of this Technical Claims Handler role, previous experience of handling complex commercial claims is required. A strong knowledge of relevant legislation is essential along with an understanding of legal frameworks and the importance of compliance. An associated legal qualification i.e. LLB Law, GDL, ACII, CILEx, or equivalent would also be ideal.
