Job summary

Illuminate Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Business Development Manager for a national professional membership body in the engineering sector. The role is remote with occasional London HQ visits, offering 35 hours per week and a salary of £38,000.

You will develop membership growth strategies, engage with member groups, volunteers, and external partners, and help raise the organisation's industry presence. Travel within the UK is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in business development or membership development in a membership/professional body.
• Ability to design and maintain effective communication systems across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience working with and supporting volunteers.
• Confident communicator with excellent written skills and public speaking ability.
• Highly organised, detail-driven, and able to manage own workload in a small team.
• Adaptable and able to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel within the UK when required.

Responsibilities

• Develop approaches and activities that support strategic goals for membership growth and stakeholder engagement.
• Build strong relationships with member-led groups, committees, and volunteers, providing structure and support to help them grow their networks.
• Identify opportunities to represent the organisation publicly and promote membership and professional registration.
• Seek and develop partnerships with external organisations to enhance visibility and impact.
