Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Software Engineer to work on Linux, cloud infrastructure, pipelines and automation, and open source software.

You will collaborate with major cloud partners to advance Ubuntu in the cloud. The role splits time between build system development (Python, Jenkins, shell), cloud feature integration in Ubuntu Server, and running our CI/CD pipelines, with opportunities to travel 2–4 weeks per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM or equivalent field.
• Practical experience with public clouds and Linux administration.
• Experience with containers, devops automation, open source projects, APIs, Python packaging or cloud-based apps.
• At least 3 of the following areas: containers, devops automation, open source, APIs, Linux systems administration, Python packaging, cloud-based apps.

Responsibilities

• Build automated, reliable image delivery, testing and publication pipelines.
• Design and integrate new Ubuntu features for use in public clouds.
• Collaborate with a distributed team across geographies.
• Write high-quality code to create new features and fixes.
• Design and architect complex systems and cloud integrations.
• Debug issues and provide robust code fixes.
• Review code from others and contribute to design discussions.
• Travel 2–4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
• Engage with Canonical teams, the open source community and partners.
