Job summary

Version 1 is hiring a Java Engineer for its UK Digital Data & Cloud Practice. You will work on a high-volume messaging environment, building scalable backend services in Java with Kafka-based pipelines and REST APIs.

You will operate in a client-facing, Agile team, contributing to design reviews and deployments while applying best practices for security, performance, and resilience. This role offers flexible/remote options within the UK.

Qualifications

• Solid back-end Java development experience with focus on performance and scalability.
• Experience with cloud-native microservices architecture and Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of Kafka and messaging systems; familiar with Redis.
• Proficiency with Spring/Spring Boot, REST API design, and security (OAuth/JWT).
• Experience with Gradle/Maven, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience and collaboration with teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend components for high-volume messaging systems.
• Contribute hands-on to the team and support production stability and deployments.
• Ensure code quality, CI/CD adherence, and operational readiness across services.
• Collaborate with the Technical Lead and peers on design reviews and knowledge sharing.
