Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) seeks three Innovation Engineers / Innovation Project Managers for a six‑month assignment in Warwick, with remote work and travel to NGED sites. You will drive innovation projects from early research to deployment, coordinating budgets, risks and benefits.

You will lead and develop business cases and support Ofgem funding applications, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to trial, evaluate and implement new solutions, and mentor

Qualifications

• A degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline (or significant applicable electricity network experience).
• A recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM PMQ.
• Significant experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of UK electricity transmission and/or distribution networks, assets and regulations.
• Strong planning, analytical and organisational skills; able to manage uncertainty and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and deliver innovation and deployment projects from early-stage research through to wider business rollout.
• Manage complex innovation and capability-rollout projects from concept to delivery.
• Develop project plans, budgets, risks, milestones and benefits.
• Lead applications for Ofgem funding (NIA/SIF) where relevant.
• Develop cost-benefit assessments and business cases to support investment decisions.
• Collaborate with NGED teams and external partners to trial, evaluate and implement new solutions.
• Support the transition of successful innovations into operational deployment.
• Represent NGED at industry, regulatory and government forums.
• Prepare project and regulatory reports in line with Ofgem and NGED requirements.
• Share knowledge and mentor colleagues across the organisation.
