Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Protection and Control Design Engineer to lead HV substation design and deliver high-quality schemes for UK power networks. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid/remote setup.

The role involves developing protection and control designs up to 132kV, coordinating with DNO standards, and providing technical support from concept through to delivery, including site

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven UK distribution/transmission protection design experience (11kV–132kV).
• Familiar with protection relays, relay configuration, logic programming and IEC 61850 engineering.
• Strong knowledge of NPg/Northern Powergrid standards and policies.
• Valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed protection application designs for feeders, transformers and busbars at 11 kV–132 kV.
• Configure relays and generate setting files; implement IEC 61850 and DNP3 schemes; prepare logic documentation.
• Specify CTs/VTs and panels per NPg standards.
• Provide technical review on designs from ICPs/external teams.
• Perform protection coordination studies and settings calculations; prepare drawings.
