Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Protection and Control Design Engineer to lead HV substation designs and power infrastructure projects in the UK. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers, clients and multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid or remote setup.

You will deliver protection and control system designs for 11 kV–132 kV schemes, specify CTs/VTs, configure relays, implement IEC 61850 and DNP3, and support testing, commissioning and FAT.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven UK protection and control design experience for HV networks (11kV–132kV).
• Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, relay configuration and protection studies.
• Knowledge of ENA/NPg standards is advantageous.
• Clean UK driving licence and ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection and control design for HV distribution schemes.
• Develop protection application designs for 11 kV–132 kV feeders, transformers, and busbars.
• Configure relays, write setting files, and implement IEC 61850/DNP3 schemes.
• Coordinate studies, produce settings calculations, and review others' designs.
• Ensure compliance with Northern Powergrid standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support during delivery, testing and commissioning.
