Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Protection and Control Design Engineer to lead detailed HV protection and control system designs for substations and power infrastructure projects.

The role offers hybrid or remote working arrangements, collaborating with project managers, clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery and high-quality engineering outputs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in control and protection design within UK grid.
• Familiarity with protection relays and IEC 61850.
• Knowledge of ENA, IEC and NPg standards.
• UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection designs for feeders, transformers, and busbars up to 132 kV.
• Configure relays, develop setting files, IEC 61850/DNP3 schemes.
• Specify CTs/VTs and panels per NPg standards.
• Provide technical reviews for designs from ICPs/external teams.
• Perform protection coordination studies and settings calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with NPg standards and regulations.
• Liaise with clients and teams to deliver projects on schedule.
• Support project delivery including factory acceptance testing and commissioning.
