Job summary

Oxoid Remel Microbiology, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is seeking a Finance & Accounting Analyst to support day-to-day accounting, reporting and finance operations across holding companies. You’ll contribute to month-end close, statutory accounts and audits while helping establish the new finance organisation and processes.

You’ll work with Tax, Treasury and Shared Services, ensuring accurate postings, reconciliations and robust audit trails.

Qualifications

• Accounting, finance or business discipline training or equivalent experience.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, journals, reconciliations and close processes.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Experience with statutory accounts and external audits is advantageous.
• Experience in multinational/shared services environments is beneficial.
• Proficient in ERP systems; SAP experience is advantageous.
• Strong Excel skills with financial data.
• Part-qualified or studying ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting and transaction processing for the Group’s holding companies, ensuring accurate and complete general ledger records.
• Support end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting activities.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepare balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences.
• Account for holding-company activities including intercompany transactions, corporate costs, investments, financing, interest and dividends.
• Prepare financial reporting submissions, supporting schedules and analysis in line with Group requirements and deadlines.
• Support preparation of statutory financial statements, year-end audits and financial reviews, including audit schedules and information requests.
• Work with Tax, Treasury, Shared Services and external providers to support accounting and reporting requirements.
• Perform assigned financial controls and maintain appropriate supporting evidence and audit trails.
• Support the Finance transition and separation programme, including knowledge transfer, process documentation, data validation and testing.
• Support improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting as the new organisation is established.
