Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Drainage Design Specialist to join our nationwide team. You will undertake drainage design from concept to construction for highways, rail and private developments, emphasising SuDS and BIM integration.

You will mentor junior staff and support bid teams while delivering high‑quality drainage solutions across the UK. You will use Causeway Flow and other standards to produce strategies, models and drawings, contributing to project delivery, client satisfaction, and

Qualifications

• Good understanding of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems and current drainage legislation and guidance.
• Experience using drainage modelling software such as Causeway Flow.
• Mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff.
• Ability to prepare technical reports, calculations and drawings.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Undertake drainage designs from concept to detailed design, as stand‑alone projects or as part of larger multi‑disciplinary schemes.
• Prepare drainage strategies, calculations, reports and technical drawings in accordance with relevant standards and guidance.
• Develop hydraulic models using software such as Causeway Flow.
• Support the delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure, transportation and development projects.
• Promote development of digital solutions in drainage design including full integration of designs within the BIM environment.
• Assisting and checking the production of drainage designs, models, calculations and drawings to relevant standards, including providing technical assurance of designs.
• To determine and assigning drainage design tasks and managing delivery to programme and budget.
• Supporting the drainage discipline locally to develop and enhance the drainage design capability within the local team.
• Mentoring and supporting the development of engineers, graduates and technicians in the field of drainage design.
• Ensure compliance with company quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Providing technical input to the preparation of bids including provision of Quality Submission responses on drainage strategy and design approach and input to price via preparation of fee proposals and associated program for delivery including assessment of risk.
