Job summary

Methods Analytics (MA) is recruiting a permanent Data Architect for a mainly remote role, with travel to client sites and our London, Sheffield, and Bristol offices. You will shape data architectures, govern data standards, and drive modern cloud-native solutions across the Azure stack.

You will mentor teams, define patterns and roadmaps, lead complex migrations to cloud platforms, and ensure security and performance.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of the Azure data stack including Azure SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Data Factory and Synapse; familiarity with Purview and Databricks/Fabric.
• Proficient in data modelling across normalised and star schema models.
• Strong relational database design and SQL performance tuning across SQL Server, PostgreSQL and cloud databases.
• Experience delivering terabyte-plus data migrations involving multiple legacy sources and both structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with Parquet/Delta Lake formats.
• Experience with streaming architectures using Kafka, Event Hubs or Kinesis.
• Knowledge of AI/ML data architectures including feature stores and MLOps pipelines.
• Experience handling unstructured data types like text, images, logs, and sensor data.
• Understanding of Lambda and Kappa patterns and when to apply them.
• Security clearance such as DV/SC and BPSS onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Advocate the business benefit of data standards and govern those standards across projects and the organisation.
• Define patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps, and vision statements based on business needs.
• Make and guide decisions, explaining how decisions are reached and resolving technical disputes.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Design how to expose data via APIs and real-time streams; link data across systems.
• Ensure deployment risks are understood and documented.
• Design end-to-end data solutions from requirements through implementation, including architecture blueprints.
• Lead complex data migration projects to modern cloud-native platforms.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies across the modern data stack to meet client needs.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders.
• Enable data-driven decisions through robust, scalable architectures.
• Drive adoption of modern data platforms and AI-enabled analytics solutions.
• Establish technical standards and architectural patterns ensuring quality and security.
• Help cultivate a data-driven culture within client organisations and internally.
• Deliver architectures that integrate traditional and modern data systems.
