Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Bid Writer with a civil engineering or earthworks background for a 6-month rolling contract. The role is predominantly remote with one day per week in Wiltshire, and offers a day rate of £500.

You will lead the preparation and coordination of bid submissions, translate technical information into persuasive responses, and collaborate with operations, commercial and technical teams to gather evidence and case studies for future tenders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Bid Writer or Bid Manager in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or related sector.
• Experience preparing competitive tender submissions within civils and/or earthworks.
• Excellent written communication, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to interpret technical and commercial information and turn it into compelling bid responses.
• Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Confidence engaging with stakeholders across operational, commercial and technical teams.
• Proactive, detail-oriented approach and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, writing and coordination of bid and tender submissions.
• Review tender documentation, PQQs, ITTs and client requirements to identify deliverables and deadlines.
• Develop tailored responses that demonstrate capabilities, experience and value proposition.
• Collaborate with operational, commercial and technical teams to gather project information and evidence.
• Translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive bid responses.
• Coordinate input from stakeholders to ensure accurate, consistent submissions on time.
• Ensure bid responses comply with client requirements and evaluation criteria.
• Identify opportunities to improve bid quality, consistency and win rates.
• Maintain and develop bid content and supporting documentation for future submissions.
