Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Estimator with civil engineering and earthworks expertise for a 6-month rolling contract. The role is predominantly remote, with one day per week in Wiltshire to coordinate with the project team.

You will prepare accurate cost estimates, review drawings, assess quantities, and use Causeway or similar software to manage tenders. The position offers ongoing work beyond the initial term and a daily rate of £500.

Qualifications

• Proven estimator experience in civil engineering with civils/earthworks.
• Experience using Causeway or similar estimating software.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, quantities and tendering.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and tender docs.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to attend Wiltshire office one day per week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering and earthworks projects.
• Review tender docs, drawings, specs and project requirements.
• Assess quantities, materials, plant, labour and subcontractor costs.
• Use Causeway or similar estimating software to prepare and manage estimates.
• Liaise with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and info.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and cost savings.
• Support the tendering process from enquiry through to submission.
