Job summary

Atlassian is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to lead AI/ML powered solutions for customers across industries. You will collaborate with product, engineering and design to deliver production-ready deployments and high-impact outcomes.

You will architect integrations, drive data-driven insights, champion AI-augmented workflows, and manage end-to-end deployment with GDPR risk controls. Mentoring and cross-functional collaboration are essential in this high-visibility role.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in backend software development.
• 5+ years delivering AI/ML solutions in production, including 0-to-1 roles.
• Deep expertise in applied AI/ML, including generative AI and LLMs.
• Proficiency in Python/JavaScript and enterprise integrations.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions for customers.
• Architect integrations using APIs, microservices and enterprise systems.
• Drive data-driven solution development from complex datasets.
• Promote AI-augmented workflow automation in customer environments.
• Oversee end-to-end deployment and continuous improvement of AI solutions.
• Navigate AI risk, GDPR data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster innovation and learning.
• Communicate complex topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Align technical work with business objectives and measurable outcomes.
