Job summary

Cavendish Professionals is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer for a permanent role in London. You will lead deployments from discovery to go-live, map business workflows for automation, and design agentic AI workflows interfacing with enterprise systems.

The role requires 5+ years in FDE/AI engineering, hands-on experience with LLMs and agent frameworks, and strong software skills (Python, JavaScript, SQL).

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Forward Deployed Engineering or related roles.
• Proven experience delivering AI or agentic systems into production.
• Hands-on with LLMs, agent frameworks, MCP, prompt engineering, and evaluation.
• Strong software skills using Python, JavaScript, SQL, and APIs.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise systems and platforms.
• Ability to translate complex business workflows into AI-driven solutions.
• Experience debugging and optimizing AI agents in live production.
• Strong communication to engage senior stakeholders and explain technical solutions.

Our client is a fast-growing AI organisation looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in London.

Skills and Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Applied AI Engineering, Technical Consulting, or a similar role
• Proven experience delivering AI or agentic systems into production
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, MCP, prompt engineering, and evaluation
• Strong software engineering skills using Python, JavaScript, SQL, and APIs
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise systems, ERPs, supplier portals, and internal platforms
• Ability to understand complex business workflows and translate them into practical AI-driven solutions
• Experience debugging, optimising, and improving AI agents in live production environments
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and explain technical solutions in business terms
• Experience working independently in customer-facing environments, managing delivery from discovery through to deployment
• Experience in retail, e-commerce, CPG, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, or logistics would be advantageous

Role and Responsibilities:

• Lead customer deployments from initial discovery through to go-live
• Map existing business workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
• Design and build agentic workflows, including actions, decision rules, exceptions, and fallback mechanisms
• Develop and deploy AI agents, integration code, scripts, and prototypes connecting to enterprise systems
• Debug, monitor, and optimise AI agents in production, focusing on measurable customer outcomes
• Lead customer working sessions, manage scope, and build relationships to support wider deployments
• Develop reusable templates, documentation, and runbooks to improve delivery efficiency
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to share customer insights and improve the platform
• Take ownership of technical delivery while balancing customer requirements with practical engineering solutions
