A leading company in social care is seeking a Relief Cook to prepare meals that provide nourishment and joy. This role involves creating balanced meals and accommodating dietary needs while ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment. The position offers flexible hours, making it ideal for those wanting to contribute positively to a care setting.
Can you turn simple ingredients into comforting meals that bring people together? We’re looking for a Relief Cook to join our team — someone who can step in when needed and help create meals that don’t just nourish, but also bring joy.
At CrossReach, our kitchens are at the heart of our homes. You won’t just be making meals — you’ll be making someone’s day.
What you’ll be doing:
Whether it’s a warm bowl of soup on a chilly afternoon or a surprise cake for someone’s birthday, your cooking will help make our care home feel like home.
You’ll need to have some catering experience, and if you’ve worked in a care setting, even better — but what matters most is that you care about food and the people you’re cooking for.
This is a relief role, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for flexible hours and want to be part of a team that really values what you do.
At CrossReach, we believe food is part of how we show care — and that the kitchen can be one of the warmest places in the building. If you agree, we’d love to hear from you.
CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.
As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.
This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
