Job summary

DS Smith in the United Kingdom seeks a Focus Improvement Technician for the Corrugator in Burscough to enhance reliability and efficiency of high-speed lines. You will work with Production and Maintenance to reduce downtime, improve starch and boiler systems, and ensure quality output while maintaining safe operations.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3/4 in Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering.
• Experience maintaining high-speed, heavy industrial machinery in corrugating or similar environments.
• Strong mechanical engineering skills including hydraulics, pneumatics, steam systems and precision alignment.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.
• Experience diagnosing faults and performing root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP or Maximo.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned, preventative and corrective maintenance across your designated production area.
• Act as technical SME for assigned equipment and assets.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems.
• Support reliable operation of high-speed corrugating equipment and systems.
• Carry out precision alignment, calibration and installation of heavy machinery and corrugating rolls.
• Maintain and troubleshoot starch preparation, pumping and adhesive systems.
• Test and troubleshoot PLCs, sensors, drives and automated control systems.
• Record maintenance activity, findings and corrective actions in the CMMS.
• Support maintenance excellence and continuous improvement projects.
