Job summary

DS Smith in Burscough is hiring a Focus Improvement Technician (Conversion) to keep high-speed finishing equipment running safely and efficiently. You will deliver planned, preventive and corrective maintenance across the Conversion area, troubleshoot faults and calibrate equipment from brands such as Bobst, Martin/FFG, Tanabe, Gopfert and Sun Automation.

Working with Production and Maintenance teams, you will identify chronic losses, implement sustainable improvements and record actions in the

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification such as an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3/4.
• Experience with high-speed converting/printing machinery.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills with servo motors and sensors.
• Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Experience with CMMS management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned, preventive and corrective maintenance in the Conversion area.
• Act as SME for assigned assets and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automation faults.
• Maintain and troubleshoot high-speed converting equipment from manufacturers such as Bobst, Martin/FFG, Tanabe, Gopfert and Sun Automation.
• Calibrate cylinders and registration systems to ensure print quality.
• Minimise jams and production stoppages by maintaining feed systems.
• Record maintenance activity in CMMS.
• Support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
