The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of Cardiac and Vascular diagnostic and interventional services to patients with Cardiovascular Disease including Cardiac and Vascular Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) including Pressure Wire assessment, Intravascular Ultrasound and Rotablation, Insertion of Temporary and Permanent Pacemakers, Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) and Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) devices reveal devices, pericardiocentesis, as well as Vascular and non-Vascular interventions; Peripheral Angioplasty, Line Placements, Urology and Gastrointestinal procedures, Biopsies, Drainages and many more. These services are also utilised by neighbouring TrustsThe role of the interventional nurse is to provide high quality care to a wide range of patients who require our service. The role includes scrubbing and circulating during procedures and rotation into the day case/recovery area to expand knowledge of caring for patients post procedure and post sedation. We are looking for hard working, driven individuals who are both flexible and versatile in their approach to work to join our excellent and friendly nursing team. You must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment. You will be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Main duties of the job

Participating in the assessment of health-related needs of patients and their families/careers. Contributing towards the formulation of a plan of care with the patient and their family/carers. Receive training and be assessed as clinically in achieving radiology nursing competencies following the designated framework. Prepare Cath & Intervention labs and recovery/day case areas for admission of patients ensuring all equipment is available, correctly assembled and functional. Act as scrub nurse and circulating nurse during differing interventional procedures whilst under x-ray guidance. Ensure personal and equipment sterility is maintained throughout the procedure and ensure safe disposal of all equipment in accordance to Trust guidelines. Recovery/day case nurse - assess, plan implement and evaluate patient care. Continually assessing and evaluating the patients condition and the effectiveness of the care delivered. Maintain constant clinical observations during procedures and recognise changes in patients conditions which require the intervention of others and ensure that timely referrals are made, or escalation procedures enacted as appropriate. Administer medicines to patients, including intravenous sedation, in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Medicines Management and Trust policy.
