Job summary

Sgscare is seeking a Registered Manager for a 2-bed children's home in Salford. The role requires leadership, regulatory knowledge, and a strong drive to provide high-quality care for children and young people with behavioural needs.

You will oversee care planning, budgeting, and team leadership, ensuring Ofsted expectations are met and that the home remains a safe, supportive environment for residents.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is essential.
  • Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred; if not held, enrolment within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive care plans covering each young person's care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs.
  • Build and retain a strong team and allocate a Key Worker to each young person.
  • Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the home's Statement of Purpose and budget.

Job description

Job Title: Registered Manager – Children's Residential Care

Location: Salford

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum DOE, plus an annual quality and commercial bonus from £5,000

Working Hours / Shift Pattern: Full-time

Employment Type: Permanent

Service: Children's Home – specialist therapeutic service

Service Users: Children and young people with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including challenging behaviour. The home currently supports one settled young person who is thriving.

Qualifications Required:
Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at the point of application; if not held, you must be enrolled within 6 months of starting in post.

Experience Required:
At least 2 years in a position related to the residential care of children, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.

Who we are looking for:

A Registered Manager who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people in care, and who can lead a home rated at least Good by Ofsted.

You will have a strong understanding of the Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation and regulatory requirements, along with knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

You will be efficient in planning, organising, budget control, resource allocation and team leadership, with confident spoken and written communication skills. A full UK driving licence is required.

In post, you will develop comprehensive care plans covering each young person's care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs; build and retain a strong team so young people see familiar faces; develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive; allocate a Key Worker to each young person; establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the home's Statement of Purpose; take responsibility for complaints and child protection concerns; work in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals; contribute to care planning and review meetings; and manage the home in line with budget expectations.
